***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***
On Saturday April 26, The Kuo Campaign was contacted by a volunteer from the League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark and Union City, expressing the sincerest of apologies that SD 10 Candidate Peter Kuo was not invited to the League's Candidate Forum. Fielding the call was Campaign Manager Jason Scalese:
It was obvious that the volunteer making the call was deeply saddened and embarrassed by the mistake. We understood immediately that an error had been made and though we regret that Mr. Kuo was not able to take part in the Forum, we greatly appreciated the League's call and apologies. We received an offer to attend a private videotaping for Mr. Kuo at a later date and gladly accepted.
Sam Neeman, Co-President of the organization submitted the following statement on behalf of the League:
The League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark and Union City is sorry for failing to include Peter Kuo in the 10th Senate Candidate Forum held on Friday, April 25. To rectify this oversight we have invited Mr. Kuo to an interview on May 3rd which will be taped and made available along with the Candidate Forum. We thank Mr. Kuo for generously making himself available for the interview. Mr Kuo's information will be available on our website www.lwvfnuc and on SmartVoter, the League of California's comprehensive site for candidate information.
Peter Kuo offered the following remarks:
The League of Women Voters provides a valuable service to the community, especially at election time. Honest oversights are made by professionals and volunteers alike, and clearly this was just that. I look forward to joining the LWF on Saturday, May 3, and appreciate the League's efforts to correct this issue and look forward to working with the League in the future.
